Rosskopf/Monte Cavallo in Sterzing/Vipiteno, South Tyrol, offers a top-class sledding experience. You can enjoy ten kilometers of perfectly groomed and snow-covered sledding fun:

Italy's longest illuminated and snow-covered sledding run provides plenty of excitement for both young and old. The starting point is directly at the Rosskopf/Monte Cavallo mountain station at 1,860 meters. From there, the sled ride takes you through an impressive forest landscape, descending 900 meters back to the base station in Sterzing/Vipiteno.

Sleds can be easily rented directly at the on-site ski rental – no reservation is necessary. Please note: Helmets are mandatory for minors!

Night-Time Sledging at Rosskopf

For those seeking a unique experience, night sledding is just the thing!

At Rosskopf, the sledding run is illuminated with floodlights every Friday evening from December 27, 2024, to February 28, 2025, until 24:00. The mountain lift operates in the evening from 19:00 to 22:00. The mountain hut hosts complete the experience, offering South Tyrolean specialties, hot drinks, and a great atmosphere for a fun evening. Our tip: Plan a stop along the sledding run at the bar “EIGHT” – with music, food, and drinks, this spot is especially popular among young people!

Night sledding is not only a popular destination for families and young people but also an ideal option for company outings or team events.

Ticket: The prices for the mountain ride can be found here! Night sledding is included with the Rosskopf 3-day ski pass. Evening sledding is not included with the Wipptal Ski Pass or the Ortler Skiarena Pass.

The Rosskopf sledging track at Sterzing / Vipiteno is the longest floodlit and artificial snow covered tobbogan sledging track in Italy. The toboggan run leads through an impressive forest landscape, covering over 900 meters in elevation. It starts right by the Rosskopf cable car mountain station and runs for nearly 10 km round many twists and turns down to the valley station in Vipiteno/Sterzing.

Sleds can be rented directly and easily at the Outdoor Center - no reservation is necessary.
Please note: Helmets are mandatory for children! In addition, sturdy footwear is essential for a safe sledding experience!

Why not join a night-time sledging party on Friday evenings for a special experience on Sterzings local mountain. On these evenings the sledging trail is floodlit until midnight (cable car runs until 10 pm).

A new highlight on the local mountain of Sterzing / Vipiteno! Starting from the mountain station of the panoramalift at 2,120 meters above sea level, a mountain coaster is being installed on the Rosskopf. The course leads over a length of 1,300 m over a height difference of nearly 300 meters to the valley station of the panoramalift. Sounds like heaps of fun? It definitely will be, because with a gradient of 20% on average and a maximum of 56%, speeds of up to 40 km/h can be reached. That means spectacular fun for the young and old, amidst the breath-taking mountain panorama.
